{"id":124202,"date":"2026-04-13T12:05:43","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T07:05:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/?p=124202"},"modified":"2026-04-13T12:05:49","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T07:05:49","slug":"psx-sheds-over-3500-points-after-trump-announces-hormuz-blockade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationaltimes.pk\/eng\/2026\/124202\/","title":{"rendered":"PSX sheds over 3,500 points after Trump announces Hormuz blockade"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Web Desk(National Times)-  The Pakistan Stock Exchange\u2019s (PSX) benchmark index KSE-100 shed over 3,500 points during intraday trade on Monday in a turbulent session, after United States President Donald Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1991175\">ordered<\/a>\u00a0a blockade of Iranian ports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The KSE-100 index declined by over 5,000 points at the start of the session, hitting an intraday low of 161,638.07 at around 9:50am after its previous close at 167,191.37.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It fluctuated around the 162,000 barrier before breaching 163,000 again at around 11am, hitting an intraday high of 163,429.78.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hormuz, a key shipping lane off the coast of Iran, has been virtually&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1983415\"><u>blocked<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;by Tehran since the United States and Israel started&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1976377\"><u>bombing<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;Iran on February 28, though reopening the strait was ostensibly a condition of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1989584\/trump-stops-bombing-iran-after-conversations-with-pm-shehbaz-sharif-field-marshal-asim-munir-iran-us-agree-to-two-week-ceasefire\"><u>ceasefire<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;put in place earlier this week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC)&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1991096\">said<\/a>&nbsp;that any military vessels attempting to approach the Strait of Hormuz would be considered a violation of the two-week ceasefire with the US, and warned that it would be dealt with harshly and decisively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Web Desk(National Times)- The Pakistan Stock Exchange\u2019s (PSX) benchmark index KSE-100 shed over 3,500 points during intraday trade on Monday in a turbulent session, after United States President Donald Trump\u00a0ordered\u00a0a blockade of Iranian ports.
