ISLAMABAD(National Times)- Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb on Saturday departed for the US to participate in the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Spring Meetings 2026, during which he is expected to participate in over 50 high-level engagements, the Ministry of Finance said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Spring Meetings, set for April 13\u201318 in Washington, DC, will bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, policymakers and development experts from across the globe at a time of heightened economic uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the press statement, during his visit, the finance minister will \u201crepresent Pakistan at important events organised by the IMF and the World Bank Group\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It said that Aurganzeb is set to \u201cparticipate in a wide range of multilateral and bilateral engagements with global financial leaders, development partners, and policymakers\u201d during the course of his visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement said that before the meetings, the finance minister will visit Boston to participate in the \u201cPakistan Conference at Harvard University\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the conference, he is expected to engage with \u201cleading academics, policymakers, and members of the Pakistani diaspora, and share Pakistan\u2019s economic outlook, reform trajectory, and growth prospects\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the sidelines of the Spring Meetings, the finance czar will hold bilateral engagements with Managing Director (Operations), WB Group, Anna Bjerde; Managing Director, International Finance Corporation (IFC), Makhtar Diop; and Managing Director, Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), Tsutomu Yamamoto.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the visit, he will also meet the senior IMF leadership, including First Deputy Managing Director Dan Katz, Deputy Managing Director Nigel Clarke, and Director of the Middle East and Central Asia Department Jihad Azour.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the meetings, he will discuss Pakistan\u2019s \u201cmacroeconomic outlook, reform progress, and future cooperation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The finance minister will also hold engagements with the US administration, including meetings with senior officials from the US State Department and the US Department of the Treasury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He will also meet the United States Trade Representative (USTR) Jamieson Greer, the statement said, outlining that the objective of the meetings was to \u201cfurther strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and discuss support for Pakistan\u2019s reform agenda\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ministry further stated that Aurganzeb is set to engage senior representatives from global financial institutions, including Franklin Templeton, Rothschild & Co., Citibank, and JP Morgan Chase, as well as representatives of leading technology and policy platforms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elaborating on the finance minister\u2019s bilateral engagements, the ministry said that he will meet \u201ckey counterparts and financial leaders\u201d from partner countries, including China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, T\u00fcrkiye, and the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement added that Aurangzeb will engage with \u201cmultilateral and development finance stakeholders, including the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Gates Foundation, and senior representatives of institutions such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB), JICA and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB)\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During his visit, the finance minister is also expected to take part in a series of multilateral forums, including the \u201cG-24 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors\u2019 Meetings \u201c and the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement added that he will also contribute to a series of high-level roundtables, policy discussions, and investment forums during his visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is also expected to interact with \u201cglobal credit rating agencies, including Fitch Ratings, Moody\u2019s, and S&P Global\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement further added that he will also speak to the US-Pakistan Business Council and address the Atlantic Council.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOver the course of his visit, the finance minister is expected to participate in over 50 high-level engagements,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It added that the visit \u201cunderscores Pakistan\u2019s commitment to macroeconomic stability, structural reforms, and strengthening partnerships with international financial institutions and global stakeholders to achieve sustainable and inclusive economic growth\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/a>Aurangzeb, Saudi counterpart discuss \u2018strong bilateral relationship\u2019,<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Earlier in the day, Aurangzeb saw off his Saudi counterpart, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al-Jadaan, at Islamabad International Airport following his \u201cproductive visit\u201d to Pakistan, said a statement issued by the Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the occasion, the two finance ministers exchanged warm pleasantries and briefly discussed the \u201cstrong bilateral relationship\u201d and ongoing economic cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, the statement added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cAurangzeb also expressed his eagerness to meet Minister Al-Jadaan again during the upcoming WB Group\u2013IMF Spring Meetings in Washington, DC, reflecting the close and enduring partnership between the two brotherly countries,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yesterday, the Saudi finance minister also held a meeting <\/a>with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in which they discussed a strong commitment to expanding cooperation with Saudi Arabia in all spheres, particularly in trade, investment, and economic development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
