Kabul (National Times) Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Zhao Xing, China\u2019s Ambassador to Kabul, to request Beijing\u2019s assistance in facilitating a ceasefire with Pakistan amid escalating tensions between the two neighbors, sources said.
According to officials familiar with the discussions, Muttaqi urged China to play a constructive role in reducing hostilities and promoting dialogue between Kabul and Islamabad. The Afghan side reportedly signaled its willingness to engage in talks and pursue measures aimed at de-escalation.
However, Chinese representatives are said to have echoed concerns similar to those expressed by Islamabad, stressing that any ceasefire or formal negotiations would depend on tangible action regarding the activities of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other militant groups allegedly operating from Afghan territory.
