Sources said that malnutrition remains a major contributing factor behind the rising number of child deaths in the district. Commenting on the situation, the Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Mithi stated that most of the deaths were caused by home deliveries and low birth weight, adding that children born underweight are more vulnerable to infections and diseases.
