LAHORE (National Times)- The Lahore High Court on Tuesday dismissed the appeal against the death sentence of a convict who killed four people, including his wife and daughter, in the name of honour. A division bench comprising Justice Farooq Haider and Justice Ali Zia Bajwa upheld the decision of Kasur additional sessions judge. Convict Yaseen had challenged the trial court\u2019s decision. The defense counsel argued before the bench that the additional sessions judge had given a decision contrary to the facts. He submitted that neither the family members present in the house nor people from the neighbourhood were made witnesses in the case despite the fact that the incident took place at night. The counsel requested the court to set aside death sentences awarded to the convict. Punjab Assistant Prosecutor General Munir Sial informed the bench that on November 17, 2021, a case was registered against Yaseen for killing four people by firing in the name of honour. The convict shot and killed his wife and daughter inside the house, and later killed his nephew Waqas and a barber, named Ilyas, at a shop. The trial court sentenced the convict to death four times on July 26, 2022. The trial court awarded the death sentence after fulfilling all legal requirements. Witnesses against the convict included his father-in-law and a person injured by the gunfire.After hearing all arguments, the bench dismissed the appeal and upheld the trial court\u2019s verdict.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
