LAHORE(National times)- The district administration in Lahore has announced registration fees for kite and string manufacturers following the conditional approval to celebrate Basant. According to officials, the move comes after the Punjab Government allowed the revival of Basant under strict conditions. In line with this decision, the administration has issued clear rules to regulate kite manufacturing, string preparation and organised kite-flying activities across the city. Under the new policy, manufacturers of kites and strings will be required to pay a registration fee of Rs1,000. Meanwhile, kite-flying associations will have to register themselves by paying a fee of Rs5,000. For registration, kite and string makers must submit Form A, while kite-flying associations are required to submit Form C to the relevant authorities. The administration has also issued specific safety standards for string production. Officials clarified that only cotton-based thread will be permitted for making kite strings. Additionally, the use of more than nine strands in the string has been strictly prohibited to minimise the risk of injuries and accidents associated with sharp or reinforced strings. Authorities said the purpose of these measures is to ensure public safety, prevent the use of hazardous materials and maintain law and order during Basant celebrations. They added that only registered manufacturers and associations complying with the prescribed rules will be allowed to operate. The district administration warned that strict action will be taken against violators, including fines and legal proceedings.
