Speaking on Dunya News programme \u201cDunya Meher Bokhari Kay Sath,\u201d Aitzaz Ahsan said that the President [Asif Ali Zardari] should also have had his name removed from the clause, in the 27th Constitutional Amendment Bill, granting the lifelong immunity to president from criminal proceedings and arrest. \u201cIf I had known, I would have definitely advised the President to do so,\u201d he added. Aitzaz Ahsan said that the judiciary has been undermined by the judiciary itself, and that it [judiciary] needs to practice self-accountability. He further said that if Benazir Bhutto were alive, she would not have supported this amendment and added that she would not have endorsed lifelong immunity for the President. Aitzaz Ahsan added that Benazir always supported the office of the Chief Justice.
