WASHINGTON(National times)- US President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned New York City\u2019s mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani to \u201cbe nice\u201d to him following Mamdani\u2019s historic election victory, saying the incoming mayor\u2019s remarks had sounded \u201cvery angry.\u201d \u201cI thought it was a very angry speech \u2014 certainly angry toward me,\u201d Trump said during an interview with Fox News. \u201cI think he should be nice to me. I\u2019m sort of the one that has to approve a lot of things coming to him, so he\u2019s off to a bad start.\u201d The president was responding to Mamdani\u2019s election night speech, in which the 34-year-old mayor-elect declared: \u201cSo hear me, President Trump, when I say this: To get to any of us, you will have to get through all of us.\u201d Trump called the statement \u201cvery dangerous,\u201d adding, \u201cHe has to be a little bit respectful of Washington. Because if he\u2019s not, he doesn\u2019t have a chance of succeeding. I want to make him succeed \u2014 I want to make the city succeed. I don\u2019t want to make him succeed personally, but I want the city to do well. We\u2019ll see what happens.\u201d Reflecting on the broader election results, Trump noted that he had been following the races in \u201cthree pretty Democratic states,\u201d adding, \u201cI would like to see the new mayor do well, because I love New York. I really love New York.\u201d Mamdani, 34, made history on Tuesday by defeating independent candidate and former Governor Andrew Cuomo as well as Republican Curtis Sliwa, becoming the first Muslim and South Asian mayor of New York City \u2014 the largest city in the United States.
