Yokohama(National times)- Punjab will adopt advanced Japanese technology to improve cleanliness and environmental standards in the province, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced while addressing the Pakistani community in Japan’s Yokohama on Monday. The chief minister said that a new era of development has begun in Punjab. \u201cHealthcare services are now reaching people at their doorstep,\u201d she added. She emphasised that positive news is beginning to emerge from Pakistan, with more improvements expected in the near future. \u201cOverseas Pakistanis have played a significant role in stabilising the economy. Inflation, which stood at 38% a few months ago, has now been brought down to 3% under the PML-N government,\u201d she said. Maryam Nawaz said that Punjab\u2019s infrastructure would soon meet Japanese standards. \u201cMedicines are now available in public hospitals, and people from all over Pakistan are coming to Punjab for treatment,\u201d she said. Maryam Nawaz visits Yokohama port, praises Japan’s urban growth Highlighting the environmental initiatives, the chief minister revealed that Punjab has launched the world\u2019s largest cleanliness project under the “Suthra Punjab” program. \u201cWe\u2019ve provided 150,000 jobs to maintain cleanliness across the province,\u201d she said. She praised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for strengthening the economy through road infrastructure, including motorways and mass transit systems. \u201cThe largest cancer hospital in South Asia\u2014Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital\u2014is under construction to provide treatment to poor patients,\u201d she said. Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed the government\u2019s commitment to housing the underprivileged: \u201cWe aim to build 500,000 houses in five years.
