Pakistan(National Times)- KARACHI: A fatal accident involving a water tanker on Tuesday has pushed the grim toll of lives lost in heavy traffic accidents in Karachi this year to 138, according to police. The latest incident occurred near the Future Mor in Landhi where an individual riding a motorcycle, identified as Muhammad Fasih, was fatally struck and by a water tanker.\u00a0 Following the collision, the driver of the tanker truck immediately fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. The police soon launched an immediate search operation and the driver’s arrest was later confirmed by the authorities.\u00a0 This latest incident adds to the rising number of fatalities from heavy vehicle accidents, underscoring a growing concern for road safety in Karachi. This incident follows closely on the heels of another tragic event just days prior, on June 19, when a speeding sand-laden dumper truck overturned onto a car near Drigh Road, killing a woman and a child and injuring two others.\u00a0 The devastating accident, which occurred around 3:15am, was attributed to a dangerous race between dumper trucks, crushing the vehicle beneath its heavy load.
