Toyota Indus Motors To Begin Export of Vehicles

Islamabad (National Times) Toyota Indus Motors announced the achievement of exporting “Made In Pakistan” vehicles on July 31, 2024, during the company’s event at Port Qasim Manufacturing Plant along with Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer and IMC’s CEO Ali Asghar.
Toyota Indus has been planning to export its vehicles since last year. However, just last week, the company finally announced that it would begin doing so in Oceanian countries. The company’s current export lineup includes the Fortuner, Hilux, and all variants of the CKD Corolla Cross. Specifically, Fortuner and Hilux are two strategic models that are also popular in the local market.

The CEO of Indust Motors, Asghar Jamalim, stated, “To see the ‘Make in Pakistan’ dream cross international borders is a big moment for not just us but Pakistan, too.”

This initiative to export cars comes in response to the AIDEP 21-26 policy, which focuses on the localization of parts and components, implementation of safety regulations, and export of Pakistani-manufactured cars worldwide.

The current plan shows Pakistan’s automobile industry’s potential and capabilities on a global scale.

Pak Suzuki’s Export Plan to Bangladesh
The export of vehicles by our local manufacturers isn’t limited to Toyota only. We’ve also seen that Pak Suzuki is preparing to export its cars to Bangladesh, but the United Nations’ objections are holding them back.

Currently, Pak Suzuki is facing objections from the UN regarding the safety and compliance issues of vehicles they want to export. However, Pak Suzuki states that most of its export models are compliant with UN safety standards. The remaining models are still undergoing modifications to ensure full compliance till June 2025.

Meanwhile, during a visit to Pak Suzuki, Rana Tanveer, Minister of Industries & Production, assured the management that the UN regulations issue would be resolved as soon as possible.
