Senior politician Illahi Bux Soomro passes away

KARACHI (National Times) Senior politician and former National Assembly speaker Illahi Bux Soomro breathed his last on Wednesday.

Soomro was admitted to a private hospital in Karachi where he passed away.

His body will be transported to his ancestral village, Jacobabad, for funeral prayers which will be held tomorrow (Thursday).

Soomro served as the 16th speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan and hailed from an influential political family in Sindh. Soomro served as the National Assembly speaker from 1997 to 2001.

He held key ministries at the federal level.
