Govt preparing to expand ‘Election ordinance’ to 120 more days: Sherri Rehman

Islamabad – August 2 (Online): Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) vice president Sherri Rehman on Monday said that government is preparing to increase Election Ordinance limit for 120 more days, adding that limit will expire next month.
PPP vice president said that Prime Minister Imran accuses opposition parties of causing a delay in election reforms, while preparing to expand presidential ordinance himself on the other hand.
“Expansion of ordinance will prove that government is not serious to bring election reforms”, Sherri said, adding that government didn’t want election reforms but only ‘electronic voting machines to rig elections’.
Sherri Rehman said that a committee was formed under Speaker National Assembly and asked whether how many meetings of the committee were called? “Electoral procedure can never be designed per the wishes of a single political party. Government wants to make the general elections controversial as well” Sherri Rehman said.
