Constitutional amendment is only for ruling elite: Khaqan Abbasi

ISLAMABAD (National Times) Former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that the constitutional amendments would further strengthen the ruling elite in the country.

Talking to media in Islamabad on Friday, the veteran politician said that there is nothing for a common man in the draft of 28-page amendment.

“Pakistan needs a new social contract. The amendments should be for a common man and not for the ruling elite,” the chief of Awam Pakistan Party said.

There is a need to promote unity instead of hatred in the country, he added.

The former prime minister urged all the stakeholders including politicians and judiciary to understand the prevailing situation of the country.
