Fazl stresses deeper examination of root causes of terrorism

Islamabad (National Times) Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has stated that he will comment on the issue of reserved seats after the court has announced its verdict.

It should be noted that the hearing on the petition filed by the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) against the denial of reserved seats concluded Tuesday in the Supreme Court, with the decision now reserved.

Speaking to media at a gathering in DI Khan, Fazlur said the Pakistani government should think as an independent and sovereign state.

Regarding the Operation Azm-e-Istehkam, Fazl said that if this operation had been the first of its kind in the country, people would have reacted differently, highlighting that people had already been displaced from Swat to Waziristan.

Fazl urged a deeper examination of the root causes of terrorism and extremism issues, emphasising that those affected by previous operations continue to face difficulties today without receiving compensation.
