Missing persons from Karachi case: SHC directs defence ministry to collect reports from all agencies, submit them in court

KARACHI (National Times) Sindh High Court (SHC) has directed defence ministry to collect reports from all agencies and present them in the court on next hearing.

The court issued these directives while hearing the petitions seeking recovery of missing persons including a citizen who had gone missing in 2018 from different areas of Karachi.
The petitions regarding missing persons came up for hearing before a 2-member bench of SHC presided over by justice Naimat Ullah Phulpoto here Thursday.

The investigating officer told the court 23 meetings of JIT have taken place in connection with recovery of citizen Said Naveed who had gone missing from the area of South. But category could not be determined. What type of performance it is. The family members of citizen have become disappointed with the traditional reports presented by police.

Family members of citizen Abdullah who had gone missing from Manghopir also appeared in the court .

The family members said Abdullah is missing from Mangho pir since 2018. Phone calls are being made to us since last several days and Rs 7 lac are being demanded as ransom . The location of phone number from where calls are being made is of Dera Ghazi Khan. We provided this phone number to police. But no action has been taken by police so far.

The court while expressing resentment over performance of police remarked was this number investigated. The family members of citizen are making round of courts and police stations since 2018.
Can you estimate that they are passing through how much distress and tribulation.

The investigation officer said the location of number which was given to us is Dera Ghazi Khan but it is found shut.

The court remarked family members of citizen presented CDR reports that calls are being received by them from this number. And you are saying number is shut.

The court ordered to continue action in connection with recovery of Syed Navid Ali who went missing from Risala area, Abdullah from Mangho pir and others.

The court directed defence ministry to obtain report from all agencies and present them in the court.

The court also ordered to obtain travel agency report in respect of missing persons from FIA.

The court while summoning DIG investigation with progress report adjourned the hearing of the case till August 21.
