Former DG FIA’s revelations endorse our narrative: Shehbaz

Lahore: National Assembly’s opposition leader and President PML-N Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that revelations made by Former DG FIA Bashir Memon endorse PML-N’s narrative of political victimization.
Shehbaz Sharif, while taking it to twitter, said that there exists a ‘NAB-Niazi nexus that politically victimizes opponents. “The startling revelations made by former DG FIA have endorsed what I have been saying for a long time: there is an unmistakable NAB-Niazi nexus that has been out to make forged cases against the PML-N and put its leaders behind the bars. The Farce stands exposed.” wrote the PML-N President.
Earlier, former DG FIA Bashir Memon made explosive revelations while talking to private news channel. Memon slapped series of allegations against the prime minister and his cabinet members. Memon said the law minister and the adviser wanted him to proceed against Justice Faez Isa on money laundering charges, but he refused because only the Supreme Judicial Council could do that.
He said that we went to the office of Forough Naseem, the law minister was also convinced that there should be an inquiry, I tried very hard to explain that it does not come in our TORs.
The former FIA chief added that he had not made any inquiries to date and that he could not, adding that he had referred to the law.
He said that the police is a law enforcement agency, how can it do illegal work against a judge, after consulting with the legal team, he also said that my position is right.
Bashir Memon also said that Pakistan has a constitution and a Supreme Court. As police officers, we have the experience that we cannot go into the rules and regulations of the judiciary.
“I had no choice, I thought I would go beyond my TORs,” he said. “Dr. Ashfaq thought I could do it.”
The former head of the FIA told the Prime Minister that you are a competent officer to start work. I said how can I do illegal work even against a judge?
He also alleged that the PM kept telling him how great it was that nobody ever challenged Muhammad bin Salman’s decisions in Saudi Arabia and that he should go see how things are done in that country rather than constantly talking about the constitution and law.
He has replied to PM that there is a monarchy in Saudi Arabia, there is democracy in Pakistan, not only arrest but also conviction.
