6,775MW power shortfall causes hours-long outages

ISLAMABAD (National Times) – With power shortfall surging to 6,775 megawatts, all nine power distribution companies (Discos) on Friday started observing hours-long forced loadshedding urban and rural areas across the country.

According to sources, the total demand for electricity in the country is 26,775MW while 5,219MW electricity is being generated from water and government thermal plants are generating 1,284 megawatts of electricity.

Meanwhile, the unannounced electricity loadshedding up to 14 hours is being carried out in different parts of the country due to power shortfall.
