Man sets himself ablaze outside court after daughter’s ‘rapist’ acquitted in Lahore

LAHORE(National Times)- A man set himself on fire outside the Muzaffargarh district courts on Friday, after an accused in the rape case of his daughter was acquitted after nine years of proceedings.

Identified as Allah Bakhshaya, the litigant poured petrol and set himself ablaze, following the acquittal of the accused.

He was shifted to the district headquarters hospital in critical condition, where doctors said he suffered 45.5pc burns, Rescue 1122 says.

A court acquitted the rape case accused on Thursday for lack of evidence, nine years after the case was instituted.

The litigant said he had spent years pursuing the case and that his daughter had also been divorced by her husband because of rape.
