Three terrorists killed as forces foil attack in Gwadar

GWADAR/QUETTA(National Times)- Security forces killed three terrorists and foiled an attack on an unoccupied construction company camp in Gwadar, officials said on Thursday.

Security sources said forces had surrounded several other suspected terrorists near a hotel, and an operation was underway to thwart another attempted attack. The construction camp that was targeted by terrorists affiliated with Fitna al-Hindustan was empty, and no casualties were reported, officials said.

However, the attackers set fire to several trucks parked along a nearby road, they added. The state uses the term Fitna al-Hindustan for Balochistan-based terrorist groups, such as the BLA, to highlight Indian involvement in terrorism and destabilisation across Pakistan.

Officials denied reports of attacks on security forces, intelligence agencies and their camps, describing information circulating on social media as baseless, and urged the public not to treat unverified reports and claims circulated by terrorist organisations as established facts.

Security situation

Meanwhile, in a joint statement, the Gwadar administration and police said reports circulating on social media about the security situation were inaccurate.

The law and order situation in the BP-250 area and its surroundings was under control following timely action by security forces and relevant intelligence agencies, the statement said.

The statement urged the public not to pay heed to unverified reports or spread rumours, advising people to rely on authentic information issued by the police and relevant government institutions. Gwadar police assured residents that necessary measures were being taken to maintain law and order.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, in a post on X, lauded security forces for thwarting the attack and praised their professionalism in eliminating terrorists.
