QUETTA(National Times)-Pakistan Railways on Thursday suspended the Jaffar Express service between Quetta and Peshawar for two days “to facilitate repair work on the main railway track”.

PR officials said the service will remain suspended on August 14 and 15. They said the temporary suspension was necessary to carry out repair and maintenance work on the railway track.

Though railway authorities said the Jaffar Express was suspended due to railway track repairs, sources said the train service had been suspended due to security reasons.

The Quetta-Peshawar Jaffar Express will also operate only up to Jacobabad during the two-day period instead of continuing to Quetta.

Meanwhile, the Bolan Mail train service between Quetta and Karachi and the Chaman-bound Chaman Express from Quetta have remained suspended for the past six months, according to railway authorities.
