Pakistan Sets Defence Budget at Rs. 3 Trillion in FY 2026-27

Islamabad (National Times) The federal government has proposed allocating Rs. 3 trillion for defence in the budget 2026-27, reaffirming national security as a top priority.

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb stated during his budget speech in the National Assembly that ensuring national defence remains the government’s foremost responsibility.

According to budget documents, the allocation reflects an increase in defence spending compared to the previous fiscal year.

The funds will be used for operational readiness, procurement of modern defence equipment, and strengthening the overall capabilities of the armed forces.

The government said the allocation is essential in view of regional security challenges and evolving defence requirements.
