Brussels (National Times) Pakistan has successfully won the election and secured nomination to the World Customs Organization (WCO) Policy Commission for the 2026–2028 term during the WCO Regional Heads of Customs Meeting held in Hong Kong.
The achievement marks a historic milestone for Pakistan Customs, representing the country’s first-ever membership on the WCO Policy Commission in nearly seventy years of WCO membership since 1955.
The successful outcome reflects sustained diplomatic engagement and coordinated efforts by Pakistan’s diplomatic and customs leadership. The initiative was strongly supported by Rahim Hayat Qureshi and the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the WCO under the leadership of Syed Asad Raza Rizvi.
Pakistan’s election to the Policy Commission is being viewed as a significant recognition of the country’s growing role in international customs cooperation, trade facilitation, and global regulatory engagement.
The WCO Policy Commission serves as a key advisory body of the World Customs Organization, guiding strategic policy matters and strengthening international collaboration among customs administrations worldwide.
