Ambassador Abdur Rahman Khan (1962–1967) — A distinguished diplomat and one of the early architects of Pakistan’s outreach in Europe.
Serving in Brussels at a formative time, he played a pioneering role in establishing Pakistan’s diplomatic presence and strengthening ties with Belgium and the wider European community.
His tenure was marked by landmark agreements:
* In 1962, he forged Pakistan’s first formal diplomatic links with the European Economic Community (EEC), laying the foundation of today’s Pakistan–EU partnership.
* Benelux–Pakistan Seaman’s Book Agreement, facilitating maritime cooperation and mobility of Pakistani maritime workers within Benelux.
As distinguished career diplomat, he had earlier also served as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan (1959-1962).
Ambassador Khan fostered political goodwill, promoted economic engagement, and highlighted Pakistan’s rich cultural identity, strengthening people-to-people connections between Pakistan Belgium & EEC.
