The Waziristan JV, comprises of Mari Energies Limited (Operator, 55%), OGDCL (35%), and Orient Petroleum (10%),
The inauguration ceremony, held at the Mari Energies Head Office, was graced by Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, who praised the JV’s technical expertise and operational excellence, noting that discoveries like Spinwam-1 strengthen Pakistan’s energy security, reduce reliance on imports, and support sustainable economic growth. Speaking at the occasion, Ali Pervaiz Malik pay homage to the sacrifices of all Shuhadas of LEAs, E&P companies, SNGPL teams. These sacrifices enabled us to stand here and celebrate. He also lauded the efforts of E&P companies amd said that I feel pride as Petroleum Minister that our local companies have stepped up to fill the vacuum created by closure of strait of Hormuz. With the support of Leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Pakistan has managed the supply disruptions very well compared to the countries of the region. With the support of our E&P companies, fertilizer supply has been ensured and the prices are much lower than that in our region.
Faheem Haider, Managing Director & CEO of Mari Energies, highlighted that Spinwam-1 reflects the JV’s commitment to developing indigenous hydrocarbon resources, meeting growing energy demand, and enhancing the reliability of gas supply.
Spinwam-1 marks a key milestone for the Waziristan JV, delivering significant gas and condensate potential. Following the Shewa-1 discovery, Spinwam-1 is the second successful exploratory well in the block, with initial production of 40 MMSCFD and 200 BBL/D of condensate, boosting total gas supply from the Waziristan Block to approximately 100 MMSCFD for the national gas network and around 800 BBL/D of condensate.
Waziristan JV, comprising Mari Energies Limited (Operator, 55%), OGDCL (35%), and Orient Petroleum Inc. (10%), demonstrates effective collaboration in challenging exploration environments.
The beginning of production is further supported by the completion of an SNGPL transmission pipeline, connecting the Shewa-1 and Spinwam-1 discoveries to the national gas grid.
The participants also took the opportunity to honor the sacrifices of Shuhada and injured personnel, including LEAs, employees, contractors, and SNGPL staff, recognizing their courage, resilience, and service under extreme operational and security challenges.
The JV looks forward to continued support from the LEAs, Government of Pakistan, and relevant authorities in unlocking further exploration potential and contributing to Pakistan’s long-term energy security.
