PESHAWAR (Dunya News) – Field Marshal Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, visited Wana in South Waziristan on Wednesday to review the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness along the western border. The high-level visit focused on frontline readiness, intelligence-based operations and evolving developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan frontier. Upon arrival, the Field Marshal was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar. During the visit, the Field Marshal laid a floral wreath at the Shuhada Monument, paying homage to the martyrs who rendered the ultimate sacrifice in defence of the motherland. He offered Fateha and reaffirmed that the sacrifices of the Shuhada remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security and national resilience. The top military commander received a comprehensive briefing on the security environment, ongoing intelligence-based operations and border management measures. Senior commanders provided a detailed update on Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq and the latest developments along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, highlighting the operational posture of forces deployed in the region. Officials informed the army chief about measures being undertaken to counter militant threats and maintain stability in sensitive border areas. The briefing also covered surveillance mechanisms, coordination between formations and the broader strategic outlook on the western front. Field Marshal Asim Munir later interacted with officers and troops deployed in forward areas. He commended their professionalism, operational vigilance and high morale during the ongoing skirmishes. The army chief praised their steadfast commitment to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and maintaining peace and stability in the region. He emphasised that the use of Afghan soil by Fitna al Khawarij and Fitna al Hindustan for terrorist activities against Pakistan was unacceptable. The top general stated that all necessary measures would be taken to neutralise threats emanating from across the border. The army chief reiterated that lasting peace between the two sides could only be achieved if the Afghan Taliban renounced support for terrorism and terrorist organisations. He also expressed full confidence in the combat readiness, synergy and resilience of the formations deployed along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
