Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza attacked at Jhelum academy

JHELUM(National times)- Religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza was attacked at his academy in Jhelum. According to police, Muhammad Ali Mirza was engaged in a photo session after delivering a lecture when the incident took place. He remained unharmed in the attack, while the suspect was arrested on the spot. Police said that the young man stormed toward the scholar empty-handed while chanting slogans and attempted to assault him. The arrested suspect is reported to be a resident of Abbottabad and is said to have links with a banned organisation.A case has been registered at City Police Station Jhelum regarding the attack.

According to the complainant, the suspect grabbed Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza by the throat with both hands. He was overpowered at the scene and handed over to the police. Last year, a case was also registered against Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza in Jhelum district. According to police, the case was filed at City Police Station based on a complaint by a citizen named Umair, charging the accused under the Pakistan Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) and Section 295-C (blasphemy law). Muhammad Ali Mirza was detained under the MPO 3 (Maintenance of Public Order) and has been held in jail. His academy was also sealed at that time to avoid any untoward incident.
