PM Shehbaz orders review of Nepra’s new solar regulations

ISLAMABAD(National times)- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday took notice of the new solar regulations released by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA). The premier chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the impact of these new rules, which concern the current solar power users in the country. During the meeting, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed the Power Division to immediately appeal to NEPRA for a review of the regulations, specifically regarding the protection of contracts for existing solar consumers. He emphasized that these contracts must be safeguarded to ensure that the interests of the users are not compromised. The prime minister stated that the burden of the approximately 466,000 solar consumers should not fall on the 37.6 million grid users. He stressed the need for a balanced approach that does not place an undue financial strain on electricity consumers who rely on the national grid.
