Six more children die in Tharparkar, death toll reaches 50

MITHI(National Times)- Six more children undergoing treatment at Civil Hospital Mithi have died over the past five days due to malnutrition and various diseases in Tharparkar, taking the total number of child deaths in the past month to 50, hospital sources confirmed.According to hospital officials, the children were suffering from multiple illnesses and had weak immune systems, which worsened their condition despite medical care. Sources said that malnutrition remains a major contributing factor behind the rising number of child deaths in the district. Commenting on the situation, the Medical Superintendent of Civil Hospital Mithi stated that most of the deaths were caused by home deliveries and low birth weight, adding that children born underweight are more vulnerable to infections and diseases. Health authorities have expressed concern over the alarming situation, as Tharparkar continues to face challenges related to poverty, food insecurity, and limited access to healthcare facilities.
