Dense fog shuts multiple motorway sections across Punjab

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Dense fog once again blanketed large parts of Punjab on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, severely disrupting road traffic and forcing the closure of several motorway sections due to extremely low visibility. The thick fog has badly affected the flow of road traffic in several cities of Punjab. According to a Motorway spokesperson, the Motorway M2 from Lahore to Kot Momin, Motorway M3 from Faizpur to Samundri, Motorway M4 from Shamkot to Abdul Hakim and Motorway M11 from Lahore to Sialkot have been closed for all kind of traffic. Motorists are also facing difficulties on major highways in Lahore, Manga Mandi, Phool Nagar, and Pattoki. Motorists have been advised to use fog lights, reduce speed, and maintain a safe distance from vehicles ahead. Motorway Police spokesperson said the closures were necessary to protect lives and property amid hazardous weather conditions. Citizens planning to travel have been instructed to prefer daytime journeys. The Motorway Police has defined safe travel timings between 10:00am and 6:00pm, when visibility is relatively better. The Motorway Police further advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel and contact the Motorway helpline 130 for guidance or assistance during fog-related disruptions.
