RAWALPINDI(National Times)- An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi has rejected the request of lawyers seeking permission to meet Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan in the GHQ attack case. The hearing of the May 9 GHQ attack case was held at the ATC, presided over by Judge Ahmad Ali Shah. During the proceedings, lawyer Faisal Malik requested the court to allow him and the legal team to meet Imran Khan for legal consultation. However, the prosecution strongly opposed the plea. Prosecutor Syed Zaheer Shah argued that Imran Khan is not an accused in the case and is currently in the custody of prison authorities. He added that the decision regarding meetings with him lies solely with jail officials and does not fall under the court’s jurisdiction. Agreeing with the prosecution’s stance, Judge Amjad Ali Shah dismissed the lawyers’ application, ruling that the court cannot intervene in matters related to prison visitation.
