Rawalpindi board hikes exam fees, students burdened

RAWALPINDI(National Times)-The Rawalpindi Board of Education has announced a fresh increase in examination fees, making it difficult for students from poor and middle-class families to appear in matric and intermediate exams. According to details, the board has imposed several new charges, including Rs30 CCTV camera fee for examination monitoring. A miscellaneous “unnamed” fee of Rs900 per student has also been introduced, while the certificate fee has been increased from Rs550 to Rs1,000. In addition, students will now have to pay Rs350 as development charges and Rs300 as postal expenses. The scholarship fee has been fixed at Rs250. The Rawalpindi Board has issued an official circular notifying students and institutions of these revised fees. The move has sparked concern among parents and students, who fear that rising costs may further restrict access to education for underprivileged sections of society.
