LAHORE(National times)- On the directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, the Punjab Wildlife Department has launched the province’s first-ever Wildlife Informer Campaign to prevent illegal hunting activities. Under the campaign, informers will be given cash rewards, with the aim of curbing illegal hunting, trapping through nets, and covert poaching. Citizens have been assigned an active role in supporting enforcement efforts. According to wildlife officials, action will be taken on any credible and verifiable information provided by citizens regarding illegal hunting or trapping. Once the information is confirmed and a successful operation is carried out, the concerned informer will receive an officially notified reward. The Wildlife Department has also issued a detailed list of rewards for information related to various animals and illegal activities. A reward of Rs100,000 has been announced for information about the Great Indian Bustard, while Rs50,000 will be awarded for identifying illegal hunting of Urial and deer. A reward of Rs25,000 has been fixed for the Houbara Bustard, whereas Rs10,000 will be given for information on net trapping, illegal nighttime hunting of partridges, and hunting of peacocks, quails, and waterfowls. Additionally, Rs5,000 will be awarded for identifying illegal hunting of partridges and wild rabbits. Wildlife officials emphasized that preventing illegal hunting is not possible without public participation and urged citizens to actively support the campaign to protect Punjab’s wildlife.
