DPM wraps up Brussels visit after key strategic, bilateral meetings

ISLAMABAD(National times)- Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar Saturday concluded a multi-day visit to Brussels, departing for Pakistan after a successful series of high-level engagements, including the Pakistan–EU Strategic Dialogue and the EU Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum, the Foreign Office said. According to the statement, Dar held substantive discussions on peace and security, maritime security, economic partnerships, and global sustainability initiatives during the meetings. He also met several counterparts and international leaders on the sidelines, exploring ways to deepen strategic ties and enhance collaboration across multiple sectors. The Foreign Office added that the Deputy Prime Minister made a brief stop in Medina during his return journey. In an informal interaction with Japan’s Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs, Eri Arfiya, Dar emphasised the strength of the bilateral partnership. He underscored the longstanding Pakistan–Japan relations and highlighted Islamabad’s commitment to expanding cooperation across diverse areas, the statement said. Dar also met Brunei Darussalam’s Second Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dato Seri Setia Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, on the margins of the forum. The deputy prime minister “reaffirmed the importance of Pakistan’s bilateral relationship with Brunei Darussalam,” while both sides agreed on the need to deepen collaboration in “trade, tourism, connectivity, IT, and education,” the Foreign Office noted.
