Dozens of huts, several motorcycles gutted in Karachi fire

KARACHI(National times)- Dozens of huts and several motorcycles were gutted in a fire broke out due to short-circuit in Gulistan-e-Johar here on Saturday night. The blaze burnt dwellings of gypsies, with fortunately no human life was lost in the fire, which started from a hut, and engulfed other nearby huts in a jiffy. Rescue sources said firefighters received a distress call about the fire, and they scrambled to the fire site and doused the inferno after hectic efforts spanning to over two hours. An eyewitness to the incident said the fire broke out due to short-circuit, adding firefighters reached the scene to extinguish the fire. However, rescue officials said due to fear of spreading the fire to nearby areas, more fire tenders were called and five firefighters managed to control the fire.  The fire destroyed dozens of huts, belongings of nomads, and several motorcycles. According to the fire officer, several livestock were also burned in the fire.
