Pakistan Navy marks Defence Day with tributes and vow of vigilance

ISLAMABAD(National Times)- Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has reaffirmed that Pakistan’s defence remains robust and unassailable, warning that any act of aggression by the enemy will be met with a decisive response. His remarks came as the country marked Defence Day on Saturday with ceremonies and tributes to fallen heroes. The Naval chief recalled that the steadfast vigilance of Pakistan Navy during ‘Marka-e-Haq’ proved pivotal in thwarting Indian naval ambitions. He said that resolute deterrence and unbroken maritime surveillance ensured the protection of national waters, confining the Indian fleet to its own limits.

Defence Day ceremonies

Defence Day was observed by Pakistan Navy with solemn reverence and national zeal, commemorating the sacrifices of martyrs, veterans, and heroes who defended the homeland. At Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, Admiral Naveed Ashraf laid a floral wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument and offered prayers for the fallen. He paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of Shuhada and Ghazis, underlining their role in keeping the country’s defence impenetrable. Wreath-laying ceremonies were also held at monuments of martyrs across various field commands and headquarters. In keeping with naval traditions, ships and units of the Pakistan Navy were decorated to mark the day with solemn pride and dignity.n The day began with special prayers at all naval mosques for the country’s security and prosperity. Flag-hoisting ceremonies were held across naval units, commands, and establishments to mark the national occasion.

Admiral Ashraf highlighted that Pakistan Navy’s constant monitoring and preparedness during critical times demonstrated its capability to secure the nation’s maritime frontiers. He reiterated that the force remains ready to deliver a decisive response to any hostile move.
