CM Maryam praises officials for swift flood evacuation efforts

LAHORE(National times)- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif lauded the evacuation efforts and recue operation which saved the province from a ‘greater tragedy’ as floods wreaked havoc. She directed the administration and all relevant institutions to remain fully mobilized in light of the extraordinary flood situation. She instructed Rescue 1122 to enhance its efforts for relief operations and ordered the provision of all necessary medicines in health camps set up in flood-affected areas. The CM directed the administration to ensure arrangements and the supply of medicines for treating diseases caused by rainwater, as well as the provision of sanitary kits for women in relief camps in flood-affected areas. She ordered the acceleration of services for Clinic on Wheels, Field Hospitals, and Mother and Child Clinic on Wheels, along with improvements in relief medical camps established in flood-affected areas. She also directed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to urgently provide tents and other necessary supplies to districts as needed. She further instructed the PDMA to prepare comprehensive backup plans in anticipation of potential situations. Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that timely evacuation before the floods ensured the safety of 250,000 people, and over 900,000 affected individuals trapped in floodwaters were rescued promptly. The coordinated efforts of the administration and all institutions prevented widespread devastation.
