Widow to receive lifelong pension; Punjab govt issues notification

LAHORE(National times)- Amendments have been made to the Punjab Civil Service Pension Rules, under which the widow of a government employee will now receive a lifelong pension after the employee’s death. Following approval from the Governor of Punjab, the provincial Finance Department has issued a notification stating that in the case of a government employee having more than one wife, the pension will be equally divided among the widows. The notification further states that if the widow remarries, the pension will be discontinued. It is worth mentioning that previously, the widow’s pension was limited to 10 years after the death of the government employee. However, the Punjab government has now reinstated the family pension.
