PML-N demands CM Punjab to resign over ‘increasing rape cases’

Lahore (National Times): Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) on Wednesday demanded Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to step down amid increasing rape and harassment cases in the province.
Secretary Information PML-N Punjab Azma Bukhari, in a statement said that Buzdar, as CM has failed miserably to protect women. This government chanted fake slogans of bringing change and introducing police reforms, she said, adding that situation is getting worse day by day.
Azma said that 6754 women were abducted during first six months of current year, while 1890 were raped, and 3721 beaten up badly.
She said that 752 cases of child abuse were reported. Most of the women abuse cases were reported in Lahore. Police’s pathetic performance and traditional way of investigation is also a main cause of ever increasing assault incidents, Azma said.
PML-N leader further said that law and order situation in Punjab is stressing, adding that bureaucracy and administration have failed in protecting masses.
