Yokohama(National times)- Punjab will adopt advanced Japanese technology to improve cleanliness and environmental standards in the province, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced while addressing the Pakistani community in Japan’s Yokohama on Monday. The chief minister said that a new era of development has begun in Punjab. “Healthcare services are now reaching people at their doorstep,” she added. She emphasised that positive news is beginning to emerge from Pakistan, with more improvements expected in the near future. “Overseas Pakistanis have played a significant role in stabilising the economy. Inflation, which stood at 38% a few months ago, has now been brought down to 3% under the PML-N government,” she said. Maryam Nawaz said that Punjab’s infrastructure would soon meet Japanese standards. “Medicines are now available in public hospitals, and people from all over Pakistan are coming to Punjab for treatment,” she said. Maryam Nawaz visits Yokohama port, praises Japan’s urban growth Highlighting the environmental initiatives, the chief minister revealed that Punjab has launched the world’s largest cleanliness project under the “Suthra Punjab” program. “We’ve provided 150,000 jobs to maintain cleanliness across the province,” she said. She praised former prime minister Nawaz Sharif for strengthening the economy through road infrastructure, including motorways and mass transit systems. “The largest cancer hospital in South Asia—Nawaz Sharif Cancer Hospital—is under construction to provide treatment to poor patients,” she said. Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed the government’s commitment to housing the underprivileged: “We aim to build 500,000 houses in five years. By December, 100,000 homes will be completed.” “The government will take strict action against those illegally occupying properties belonging to overseas Pakistanis,” CM Maryam said.
