Pakistan, UK agree to explore new avenues for strategic cooperation

LONDON(National times)- Pakistan and the United Kingdom have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in political, economic, climate, and people-to-people domains. The understanding was reached during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and British Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Middle East, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, Hamish Falconer, in London on Monday. The meeting reviewed the full spectrum of bilateral relations and included an exchange of views on regional and global developments. Senator Dar highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to economic reforms and outlined the country’s perspective on peace and stability in South Asia.

Focus on Kashmir

The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the importance of a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Future cooperation

Both leaders appreciated the positive trajectory of Pakistan-UK ties and expressed satisfaction with ongoing collaboration. They underscored the importance of regular high-level engagements to maintain momentum and to explore fresh avenues of strategic partnership.
