LAHORE(National times)- Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, in her heartfelt Independence Day message, urged every Pakistani to engage in self-accountability and reflect on their individual contributions to the nation’s progress. In her message, she said: “On this Independence Day, we must hold ourselves accountable as Pakistanis. Pakistan gave us dignity and freedom – what have we given back to our country?” CM Maryam Nawaz expressed deep gratitude to Allah Almighty for the countless blessings bestowed upon the nation. “Alhamdulillah, we are grateful for being granted a matchless land like Pakistan and for the opportunity to live with dignity in a free homeland,” she stated. Proudly reflecting on Pakistan’s status as the first nuclear power in the Islamic world, she emphasised the pride and responsibility that come with this achievement. “Pakistan is a shining beacon whose light illuminates the world,” she said, reaffirming that the nation stands tall among global powers by the grace of Allah. Paying tribute to the founding fathers, she honored Allama Iqbal, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and their companions for their sacrifices and vision. She also remembered the martyrs of the nation, stating, “As we celebrate, we must never forget the sacrifices of the millions who gave their lives for our freedom.” Maryam Nawaz urged parents across the country to share stories of Pakistan’s struggle for independence with their children. “Let today be not just a celebration, but a day to renew our commitment to this sacred land,” she said. She expressed hope in the nation’s future, noting that “the nation is awake, and our soldiers are vigilant on the borders.” Reaffirming her vision for Pakistan’s progress, she said the country is “on a path toward economic growth and global respect.” Concluding her message, Maryam Nawaz expressed confidence in Pakistan’s bright future and renewed her resolve to continue working toward a stronger, greater Pakistan.
