RAWALPINDI(National Times)- Police claimed to have rounded up three suspects who escaped from the court on Saturday after their interim bails were cancelled in the case of the violent death of a madressah student in Kallar Syedan.

Police said two of the suspects were arrested by the police shortly afterwards, however, the third evaded the arrest. However, he was also later arrested. All the six suspects nominated in the FIR have been arrested and will be charged with evidence to bring them to justice, a police spokesman said.

An 11-year-old seminary student, Faizan, Ali, died after allegedly being subjected to torture at a madressah in Kallar Syedan on August 25. The Quran teacher reportedly escaped after the incident came to light.

Mohammad Sultan, father of the deceased boy, had lodged an FIR with the police saying that he had five children, three of them boys, and Faizan Ali, 11, was his eldest son.

On August 24, Qari Sanaullah telephoned the boy’s father and told him that his son was sick and had been admitted to DHQ Hospital Rawalpindi. After receiving the telephone call, he sent his brother Zafar who lived in Rawalpindi to the DHQ hospital.

On reaching the hospital, Zafar met Qari Sanaullah who informed him that Faizan had died. It also emerged later that Faizan was brought dead to the hospital. Faizan’s body was then taken to his native town Bhakkar for burial.

During ritual cleansing of the body, torture marks and bruises were found on it. When Faizan’s uncle went to the Qari’s home, he found it locked.

Later when he was contacted on his mobile phone by the father of the deceased and when he inquired about the torture marks on his son’s body, the teacher replied that he had slightly beaten him as he was not learning his lesson due to which his condition deteriorated.

Subsequently, the family contacted the police and the body was brought back to Kallar Syedan.

Later the police took the body into custody and conducted a postmortem examination and arrested the suspects nominated in the FIR.
