Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day Celebrated at Embassy of Pakistan, Brussels

Brussels (National Times) The Embassy of Pakistan in Brussels commemorated Pakistan’s 80th Independence Day today with a dignified flag-hoisting ceremony, bringing together members of the Pakistani community, and friends of Pakistan from Belgium and Luxembourg, to celebrate the spirit of freedom, unity and national pride.

The national flag was hoisted by Ambassador Rahim Hayat Qureshi to the accompaniment of the national anthem. Messages on the occasion of Independence Day by the President, Prime Minister, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan were also read out.

In his remarks, the Ambassador extended his warmest felicitations to the Pakistani community in Belgium and Luxembourg. He paid rich tribute to the sacrifices of the founders, and the contributions of the sons and daughters of Pakistan, towards the country’s progress and development.

The Ambassador underscored that 14 August was not merely a day of celebration, but a reminder of our shared responsibility to uphold the ideals of unity, faith and discipline and to contribute positively towards Pakistan’s progress and prosperity. He reaffirmed the Embassy’s unwavering commitment to serving the Pakistani community and strengthening the bonds between Pakistan and Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union.

The ceremony reflected the deep affection of Pakistanis living abroad for their homeland. The Embassy conveyed its heartfelt appreciation to the Pakistani community for its continued support and active engagement, and for its positive role in strengthening people-to-people ties.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for the progress, prosperity, peace and security of Pakistan.
