Justice Munib Akhtar takes oath as acting CJP

KARACHI(National Times)- Justice Munib Akhtar, the senior puisne judge of the Supreme Court (SC), took oath as acting Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) here at SC Karachi Registry on Monday.

Justice Muhammad Shafi Siddiqui of the SC administered the oath to Justice Akhtar in a simple and dignified ceremony.

According to a statement issued by the SC, incumbent CJP Justice Yahya Afridi is currently out of the country. Justice Akhtar will act as chief justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan during the period Justice Afridi remains abroad, it added.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by the judges of the Supreme Cou­­­rt and the Federal Cons­titutional Court, it added.
