Ninth class student attacked with acid for refusing marriage proposal in Lahore

LAHORE(National Times)- A ninth-grade student came under an acid attack after her family refused a marriage proposal in Chung area of Lahore.

Police said the student was returning home from her academy when unidentified assailants suddenly threw acid at her and fled the scene.

The attack left her face, head, and shoulders severely burned. Initial investigations suggested the incident may be linked to a family dispute over a marriage proposal.

A case has been registered at Chung police station on a complaint lodged by the victim’s father.

In a separate incident in Green Town, police signaled a suspicious motorcycle to stop, prompting the riders to open fire, striking a police vehicle.

In a timely response, officers pursued the suspects and managed to capture one assailant, identified as Sajid, who was also injured by his accomplice’s gunfire.

Sajid was taken to Jinnah Hospital for treatment but succumbed to his injuries. The other suspect managed to escape, and police raids are ongoing to apprehend him.
