Security forces eliminate 10 terrorists in Zhob operation

RAWALPINDI(National times)- Security forces have killed 10 terrorists during a follow-up sanitisation operation in Zhob district of Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Thursday, intensifying a wider counter-terror campaign in the region. According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation on Wednesday was launched after an intelligence-based raid conducted a day earlier in the same district, during which eight militants were neutralised. The military said the latest action targeted militants described as belonging to the group Fitna al Khwarij. During the sweep, security forces tracked suspected fighters across multiple routes and engaged their positions in a gun battle. “After an ensuing fire exchange, ten Indian-sponsored Khwarij were sent to hell,” the ISPR statement said. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered from the dead militants, who, according to the statement, had been involved in a number of terrorist activities in the area. The military added that sanitisation efforts were continuing to clear the area of any remaining fighters. It said the ongoing counter-terror campaign under the vision Azm-e-Istehkam, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, would proceed at full pace. Security forces and law enforcement agencies remain engaged in operations aimed at eliminating what the statement described as foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
