ISLAMABAD(National times)-The government has announced uninterrupted electricity and gas supply during Sehr and Iftar timings across the country during the holy month of Ramazan. The announcement was made by Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari and Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik, at a news conference in Islamabad on Wednesday. Awais Leghari said that the decision has been taken on the special instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to facilitate people across the country. He said that the Power Division and the Petroleum Division, after a detailed review of the situation, have finalised arrangements to ensure that no power and gas outage occur during Sehri and Iftar timings anywhere in the country. The minister said that the government has decided that even in high-loss or technically sensitive areas, electricity supply will remain uninterrupted during these hours. He added that in case of any major technical fault, immediate action will be taken to restore power supply so that the people do not face any inconvenience.

Ramazan 2026: Working hours for federal government offices announced

Awais Leghari said that a special control room has been established to effectively monitor the situation and oversee all electricity feeders across the country. He advised consumers to lodge complaints on helpline number 118 in case of any difficulty regarding electricity supply, adding that complaints will be addressed promptly. In his remarks, Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik said that the government has made full arrangements in consultation with gas pipeline companies to ensure gas supply at maximum pressure during 3 a.m. to 10 p.m. He said that additional gas volumes have also been arranged based on lessons learned from the previous winter to improve supply reliability. The minister said that dedicated monitoring control rooms have been established at the head offices of both gas companies, while regional offices have also been directed to ensure strict monitoring, especially at tail-end areas of the distribution network, to guarantee uninterrupted gas supply.
