ISLAMABAD(National times)- Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has confirmed that the government has decided to shift him to hospital and form a medical board. He noted that the former premier had been allowed to speak with his sons by telephone. He reiterated that humanitarian considerations, not politics, guide their actions regarding Imran’s medical care. The PMLN-led federal government has confirmed that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan will receive urgent medical treatment for his right eye amid growing concerns over his health in captivity. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that Imran’s ongoing eye treatment will now be continued at a specialised medical facility under the supervision of top ophthalmologists. He added that a detailed report of the treatment would be submitted to the Supreme Court and urged that speculation and political rhetoric be avoided. Reports indicate that Imran’s right eye retains only 15 percent vision due to delays in receiving timely care. He was diagnosed with central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), a condition often linked to high blood pressure, diabetes, and other cardiovascular risks. Last month, he underwent a specialised procedure at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) which was completed successfully in around 20 minutes under strict monitoring. Authorities have allowed Imran to speak with his sons, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, via telephone, with his sister Aleema Khanum confirming the call lasted around 20 minutes. She described the interaction as “extremely uplifting” for Imran and emphasised that urgent specialist care at Shifa International Hospital Islamabad is crucial to prevent permanent vision loss.
Opposition protests intensify
Opposition parties, including PTI and Tehreek-i-Tahafuz-i-Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP), have staged sit-ins at Parliament House, KP House, and Parliament Lodges. Leaders including TTAP Chairman Mehmood Khan Achakzai, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Senator Ali Zafar, and former CM Ali Amin Gandapur are demanding that Imran receive immediate hospital treatment and that one family member be granted access.PTI Secretary-General Salman Akram Raja said the delays in transferring Imran to the hospital were directly affecting party workers’ morale. Senate opposition leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas described Parliament House as “a prison”, highlighting the confinement of opposition leaders.

KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi urged all volunteers and protestors to remain peaceful while emphasising that Imran’s health takes precedence over politics. TTAP leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar warned the government against escalating the situation and insisted that the protest will continue until Imran is treated and his family has access.
