CM Maryam makes surprise visits to Liberty Chowk, Mochi Gate ahead of Basant in Lahore

LAHORE(National times)- Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Thursday paid surprise visits to Liberty Chowk and Mochi Gate ahead of the Basant festivities, where she interacted directly with citizens and highlighted the government’s focus on public safety.Speaking to media and public during her visit, Maryam Nawaz clarified that there would be no ban on riding motorcycles during Basant. However, she warned that motorcycles without approved safety rods would be impounded.“There is no restriction on motorcycle riding during Basant, but bikes without safety rods will be stopped,” she said, stressing that the measure was aimed at protecting lives. The chief minister’s unexpected arrival at Liberty Chowk drew a large crowd. She mingled freely with citizens, spoke with families, showed affection to children, and took selfies. At one point, she asked security personnel to step aside to allow closer interaction with people. Maryam Nawaz was seen greeting children warmly, shaking hands with a young girl in a yellow shirt and another child dressed in an army uniform, whom she affectionately described as a “little soldier.” Citizens praised the chief minister’s performance, with one man telling her that people widely appreciated her work.

A visitor from Karachi also lauded her visible governance and invited her to visit the city. During the visit, Maryam Nawaz personally instructed a motorcyclist without a safety rod to get one installed, informing him that safety rods could be fitted free of cost at designated camps. “The safety rod is for your own protection. I care about you,” she said, reiterating that all precautionary steps were being taken solely in the interest of public safety.
